On 3 September Prada inaugurated some new spaces in its Via della Spiga store, with windows also looking out onto Via Sant’Andrea. The dominant colour theme is pastel green, a distinctive note in the label’s boutique. The 400 square metres, set out on two floors with leather goods on the ground and the clothing collections on the first, are furnished using iconic design pieces from the 50s, such as green marble tables designed by architectural firm BPPR and reproduced exclusively in a limited edition run for Prada. This is set off by the optical check floor in black and white marble. The top floor, which is accessed using a marble staircase, features walls decorated in tone-on-tone pastel green relief designs. On both floors, the display units, created with polished wood features, merge seamlessly with the historic furnishings by Giò Ponti and Osvaldo Borsani, reproduced here exclusively for Prada. The interior, with its wealth of new details is perfectly in line with the image of the label, thanks to a sophisticated selection of iconic, Italian design pieces, offers an atmosphere of elegant domesticity, transforming the shopping experience into an elegantly aesthetic pause.
