After Milan and Rome, Marni, now owned by Renzo Rosso’s OTB with Francesco Risso at the head of design, has a boutique in Via Roma, Florence, opened in May 2018, on the ground floor of an historic building looking onto Piazza della Repubblica. The interior design plays with elegant precious materials and well-defined geometric shapes. The double-height windows are dominated by two concave elements that introduce the main circle theme. The new Florence store marks the start of a programme of new openings for 2018, in Rome, New York and Paris. Each opening will have its own sculpture animal, in a different form for each city and on exclusive sale for a limited period. Hand made in a limited edition, using papier maché and beads, by a community of women in Villaneuva, Colombia, each one takes three days to make. The feature statue for Florence was the hen, in four different colours and star of the short film “Wandering on Florence” by Matt Blease, the first of the 4 artists chosen by Marni to use illustration and animation to showcase the label’s journey through Europe and the United States.
