A fashion show is a story told in an architectural space. A story within a story. But for the Prada SS 2018 men’s show, the architectural installation was erased and the external structural elements of the building were outlined to create backdrops for seemingly simple yet evocative picture stories. Following the logic of comic strips and graphic novels, fragments of incomplete narrative cover all the visible surfaces, with black-edged architectural features providing the infrastructure for the story-telling experience. Even the guests are drawn into the narrative, embedded in sunken frames, as models parade on an illustrated surface, weaving between the spectator boxes. The illustrations created by the studio 2×4, based in New York, are some of the paintings on the building in the Miami design district.
