Towards the end of November 2016, Bisazza, well-known, Vicenza-based mosaic company, launched its Wood collection, a range of wood flooring designed by Edward Van Vliet, Kiki van Eijk and Studio Job. The debut was all about innovation. The designers, who are all different in terms of their background and expressive styles, have created brand new styles, playing with shapes and colours and taking inspiration from other materials. Edward Van Vliet, for example, has brought back the shapes of the large classic octagonal tiles but in natural wood or dyed blue with aniline. The ever-surprising design duo from Antwerp, Studio Job (Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel) have created unexpected embossed effects using colour shading, while Dutch designer, Kiki Van Eijk came up with figurative layouts using octagonal tiles in shades ranging from white maple to deep chestnut brown, enriched with gentle floral incisions. And as is traditional, the floor takes on an original decorative importance.
