During the Salone del Mobile 2018, the Milanese showroom of specialist wallpaper label Jannelli&Volpi, was transformed by a series of installations curated by the Matteo Ragni studio, into a stage for the company history. The story developed over three floors to reveal the production process behind the scenes, based on three key elements: decoration, sound and colour. Inside the Gallery, the heart of the Wallpaper Land, the printing dies were placed on stands, and this included the ones from the new 2018 collections. Sound could be perceived through the music of Lorenzo Palmieri, who reproduced the background noises of the factory, near the machinery, illustrated by close –up videos by Alessandro Gentile made of the machines during different times in the printing process. Colour was narrated by panels around the sides, covered by a wallpaper created especially, starting with the decorations on the paper from the M.C. Escher 2018 collection. In the new space, JV Open lab, a kind of wallpaper library, a mood board of the 2018 designs was set out. The concept store on the first floor, dedicated to a selection of fashion and design accessories, was renewed by the scenographic setting created by Dario Zordan, featuring vertical grid structures holding polychrome wallpaper rolls.
