The Momu, fashion museum in Antwerp, is holding a retrospective of the Belgian creator, Oliver Theyskens from 12 October to 18 March 2018. Self-taught, over his twenty year career, Oliver has displayed a natural talent for drawing and a rare capacity to conjugate style and craftsmanship. The exhibition is divided into five sections that document his collaboration with five fashion brands in the form of his most significant creations. The journey through time is also articulated by poetry and literary voices from different eras. The Italian brand Bonaveri is partnered with the MoMu in setting up the work of the Belgian stylist with a selection of mannequins from the Tribe collection, made to seem real by graceful poses, specifically created to highlight Oliver’s different stylistic expressions. The exhibition includes a wide selection of photographs that document the work of the atelier and numerous fashion shows. The clothes are divided up into groups by topic, arranged on circular platforms in dark surroundings. On one platform inside an all-white room, lit by a white light, almost like sunlight, a kind of final goodbye fashion show is set up with the most scenographic creations representing the spectacular seal of the exhibition.
