During Milan Fashion Week, Istituto Marangoni presented its “IM Alumni Collection ®evolution”, an innovative project to promote our best, most talented students, supporting them in the creation and presentation of their very first real collections. In the spotlight at this first edition was Armando Costa, who showed his creations on a romantic carpet of rose petals in the Sala della Cariatidi of Palazzo Reale on 23 September. Costa, who graduated from the Marangoni fashion school in 2006, began his career as a fashion consultant for different companies before creating his own name brand. The theme of this first show was a kind of imaginary journey among a wealth of different sources of inspiration, freely mixed. The garments on show have something of a gipsy spirit, combined with flower power elements, and there were also references to American Indians. Costa is at ease when using and combining myriad different materials, for example, traditional crochet with the glitter and Swarovski crystals that illuminate many of his pieces.
