Attending the VIII Ixel Moda Biennial Congress in Cartagena enabled me to understand what is happening in the fashion market all over the world with masterly speeches by people of different nationalities. I got the chance to be present at keynote lectures by Victor Megido from the Brazil IED on digital communication, Liliana Sanguigno, born in Colombia and living in London, on buying in commercial centres, and Eef Vicca from New York on the links between commerce and creativity. The two shows were impressive: one by Hernan Zajar – very Carioca – and the other by Beatrix Camacho with patterns inspired by green nature – poetic and with an international flair. Ixel Moda was also the occasion to visit the impressive multicoloured ancient city of Cartagena. South American fashion seems ideal to nourish the decorative international contemporary trend.
