Creating a jewel, taking inspiration from reality. This is the summary of the four books donated by Hemmerle which arrived this month at the library. Hemmerle is a fourth generation German family at the vanguard of jewellery design. Each jewel is unique and as original as a work of art. The four books they donated to us pair their jewels with poetry from around the world in Nature’s Jewels (2014), and with recipes in Delicious Jewels (2011). We can also find, in Art of Nature (2000) a brilliant interpretation of animals, insects, birds and plants and, in Jewels Today (2006), the collection and realization of some Hemmerle’s jewels. Attention to detail, subject and realistic and well-defined forms, make these pieces special. The books will inspire our students to find new themes for the design and creation of jewellery.
